Just say no to spam...

As working research scientists, we author papers that are published online. As part of this process, our email address is listed so other scientists can ask questions, ask for reprints, or request reagents. Unfortunately, companies are now plucking email addresses from these papers and using them to send unsolicited marketing materials, i.e. SPAM. In an attempt to slow or stop this practice, we've established this site to publicize those companies that choose this marketing tactic. Hopefully a public flogging and lost sales will do what the UNSUBSCRIBE button can not…

More SPAM incoming from our friends at SciData, who appear to be the ones harvesting and reselling our email addresses. A quick WHOIS search turns up Rajan AN at InBiogen Technologies as the holder of the SciData website. They were even nice enough to give their email address. rajanthampi@gmail.com

SciData - A global biotech SPAM provider

WOW, did I get a great SPAM today - SPAM from a company called SciData offering to sell me a list of names and email addresses harvested from online papers, abstracts and posters. They even provide a list of their own customers - it makes it easier for us to blackball them, but in the end probably doesn't do much to stop SciData's web crawlers from gathering email addresses. Their tagline is ImmunoCellin Delivers Antibodies in Live Cells. Not sure if that's true, and I won't find out since I don't buy from spammers... sent to an article-specific email account.

Buy or bite? Bio ribbit? Bi orbit? However you pronounce the name, they'll pull your email address from a paper and spam you. Find your antibodies and peptides elsewhere...
